On January 9 2017 WaterAid UK announced that it has appointed Tim Wainwright, ADD International’s current CEO, to take over from their Chief Executive, Barbara Frost, who retires in May of this year.
Saghir Alam, OBE, Chair of the Board of ADD International, in announcing Tim’s departure, said
“During Tim’s tenure as CEO, ADD has played a pivotal role in putting disability on the international agenda – globally in the Sustainable Development Goals, in the UK in partnership with DFID and in the countries in Africa and Asia where ADD works. This has been in large part due to Tim’s skills in bringing together a wide range of partners, both from within and outside the disability movement, to work together to agree shared positions in relation to pushing for greater inclusion of persons with disabilities. Part of Tim’s work has been to encourage larger, mainstream INGOs to prioritise disability inclusion in their programming and, as such, he has often cited WaterAid as an example of an organisation that does this truly and effectively. Co-incidentally, the current CEO of WaterAid, Barbara Frost is also a past CEO of ADD. So, while we are, of course, very sad that Tim is leaving us, we are delighted that he has chosen to move to such a key ally and look forward to working with him and with WaterAid in the future.
The Board will begin a search for Tim’s successor immediately and will be working closely with the current strong senior management team and staff to ensure ADD capitalises effectively on the many opportunities that Tim has created to secure the full inclusion of persons with disabilities and the unprecendented high profile of disability globally.”
